St Annes Kite Festival 2025: A Weekend of Wonder
Festival Highlights
From Friday 29th to Sunday 31st August, St Annes Beach was transformed as dozens of giant, artistic kites fluttered above the shore, thanks to a partnership between Fylde Council, SmileFactor10, and the enthusiastic support of St Annes Town Council. The festival attracted tens of thousands of spectators from across the UK and beyond, with professional and amateur flyers showcasing everything from illuminated displays at dusk to gigantic inflatables and classic diamond designs.
Illuminated Kites and Family Fun
Friday evening’s illuminated kite flying was a genuine highlight—giant glowing octopuses, dragons, and artistic creations lit up the night sky, mesmerising children and adults alike. The fairground and food stalls ensured there was plenty of entertainment off the beach, with treats ranging from fish and chips to international street food.
Inclusive and Welcoming
This year’s festival included five flying arenas, one outside the dog control zone, so families with furry companions could enjoy the spectacle up close. Additional facilities like lost child points, extra toilets (including disabled access), and helpful security and first aid teams made the festival accessible and comfortable for all.
Local Impact and Lasting Memories
Sea Croft Bed Breakfast & Bar played a special role for guests, offering a warm welcome, comfortable rooms, and a front-row location just steps from the kiting action. Visitors could relax between festival thrills, share stories over breakfast, and step straight into the vibrant atmosphere with ease. Smiles and excitement abounded as guests brought their own kites, joined mass flights, and created special memories with loved ones against the backdrop of the stunning seafront.
Why St Annes’ Kite Festival Succeeds
Thanks to careful planning around tides, strong community support, and a stunningly scenic location, St Annes Kite Festival now stands as one of the UK’s biggest and best-loved kite spectacles. The atmosphere—filled with awe, laughter, and creativity—left guests inspired and eager to plan their next visit, whether for the kites or the charm of St Annes itself.
If the festival captured imaginations this year, it promises to do so again next time. As the last kites drifted gently down at sunset, the town was already looking forward to welcoming guests for another sky-high celebration in 2026.
